Over the last two months, we’ve made multiple improvements to the Cloud Alliance network. The wireless connections of our network between the Plainfield base station and our repeating stations in East Montpelier, Marshfield, and Calais have been powerfully strengthened with new, higher-frequency radios and antennas. These allow greater capacity and cleaner transmission of data, voice, and video packets. In the process of these upgrades, we were also able to update the physical connectors on the towers to enhance the likelihood of stable service.
We’ve introduced a new monitoring server to the network. This gives us powerful new tools to continually analyze the network’s performance.
Subscribers have increasingly been using our service for myriad purposes. We’re thrilled that our service is proving so popular and well-used. The flip side of this increased usage is that our shared network has been taxed a bit. In order to more consistently deliver the throughput our subscribers expect, we’ve renegotiated our bandwidth contract with our supplier. We expanded the supply, over the most recent level, by a whopping 67%. We now provide five times the bandwidth to our network as we did just two years ago!
What does all this mean? Our subscribers can enjoy increased speeds during those busy parts of the day and the week. And, they can expect even greater stability of the connections, too. We won’t rest on our laurels, though. We intend to remain vigilant observers of the network, promptly responding to any glitches. There are more improvements planned, too!
