Marshfield-Plainfield Project
The Marshfield Plainfield Broadband Internet Project is a volunteer community group working to bring high-speed Internet service to our two communities. Our goal is a fast, affordable and reliable Internet for anyone who wants it. Up to 50 times faster than dial-up service is now available. We formed because larger telecommunications companies refused to provide this service to rural areas of Plainfield and Marshfield. We operate under the authority of the selectboards in both towns and do not rely on local tax dollars. Here’s a list of committee members:
Bob Barasch
Mike Fritz
Sarah O’Brien
Bryan Pfeiffer
Brian Tyrol
Neil Hogan
In a competitive bidding process, we selected Cloud Alliance to provide wireless Internet service to our communities. Cloud Alliance, based in Stowe, is a partnership involving key players in the emerging rural Internet service market in Vermont. Our commitee also received technical support from Al and Laura Duey of the Vermont Council on Rural Development.
